Illness, either yours or a relative's, is disruptive.
I have suffered from chronic bronchitis since my childhood. I had my first one many years before taking up smoking.
Why the heck I went down this bad habit road is plain obvious: human stupidity.
That's not what I want to talk though.
I just wanted to mention how difficult is to stop your life even for a week once or twice a year. Keeping your self-steem high is hard as well.
Just a bronchitis a year makes you unfit for uncountable roles in our society. Successful people are normally very healthy or if they have any health issues these do not prostrate them to a bed.
Anyway, life always moves on and does not wait for anyone.
