Both sentences are just two different ways that English speakers say the same thing. It has very little to do with grammar. But is related to our we are all as individuals different. Today I will go shopping. I will go shopping today are both the same.

I think that the second sentence is correct. Adverbs are always used to qualify verbs and are put next to verbs closely.
