A is an old and renowned author and B is a much younger girl who admires A. As time goes on they get closer, A says "I wish you had been around when I was younger". The B says to her friend "OMG, can you imagine? I would've raged so hard at Joan Didion's parties."
What does she mean by saying she would've raged so hard at Joan Didion's parties???
Thanks in advance!!

She means she would have partied hard! Lots of alcohol, maybe some drugs etc.

When B says she would've raged so hard at Joan Didion's parties, she means that if she had been around when A was younger and attended her parties, she would have had a great time and enjoyed herself very much. Raging here means having a lot of fun and being very energetic at the parties.

Maybe it's worth adding to the other replies that I'm a native speaker and I clicked here to find out what the answer was! I've never heard "rage" used in this way.
