He is on boat sailing around the Caribbean
One minute, and the next he is hiking in the German countryside.
Could you explain "one minute" in this sentence please?

in the context given it means he suddenly changed his mind he was sailing in the Caribbean and then suddenly he decides to go hiking in the German countryside
