Yes, I agree the second one is better. I would probably say "I'm not your performing dog".

The second one sounds better. Probably if I was mad and going to make a statement like this I would say “I’m not your dog and I don’t do tricks”

I’m not a dog (who exists) to do tricks for you. (Dog is the subject of ‘to do tricks’) I’m not a dog to kick around when you’re angry. (Dog is the object of ‘to kick around’) Using the bare infinitive is a little awkward because we’d typically expect the dog to be the object in normal speech. Also, the bare infinitive is sweeping. So it has a different meaning than the second sentence. My dog does tricks for me. My dog exists to do tricks for me.

For this type of sentence there is no correct or incorrect answer nor is one way better than the other. You can/could pick either of the two possibilities. The best thing you could do is to study the subtile differences between to and for, and also to study when how and why at times "to/for" can be interchangeable. Change the context. Man wife boyfriend girlfriend relationship man is a chauvinist. Female: "I am not a slave that cleans and irons for you" Female; 'I not not a slave to do your washing and ironing for you" On the second female response the female adds for you as an emphasiser at the end. she is saying both not here to do cleaning and ironing for the male and not here to do the males washing and ironing.

Hi, One of the things I look at, when reading answers to questions like yours, is where the responders are from. The two gents before me agreed on choice two which sounds a little forced to me. I'm Canadian and I would use choice one. I hope my input helps somehow. Cheers They both express anger. Somewhere in here, you posed a question about a 2 am phone call. I thought your answers looked fine. Though, I will say this. The length of your answer tends to reflect the level of your anger. If I was the person you were talking to, I'd hang up or walk away before you were halfway done.
