HEAR vs LISTEN HEAR = notice sound without trying (passive) I can hear music from the next room. Did you hear that noise? LISTEN = pay attention to sound on purpose (active) Please listen to the teacher. He is listening to the radio. Tip: Hear = your ears receive sound. Listen = you focus on the sound.
