I have a puppy dog called Otavio and my favorite moment with him happened some months ago. We used to go to a small park near our house. This was the first time I introduced him to a place outside our home. There, I tried to walk with Otavio off leash, introduce him to other dogs (this part has been really hard, Otavio is a bit antisocial haha), play with him using balls and sticks, etc. On this specific day, which was our third or fourth visit to this place, I took off the leash and let Otavio walk free with me, as always. There is a small lake in this park - just for decoration, it is not deep. Otavio never noticed this, every time he just walked near it. But on this particular day, while we walked calmly, he stopped, smelled the water, looked to me - as if saying to me: "sorry mommy" - and jumped in the lake. In the first seconds, I forgot completely about animals instincts and that the lake was not deep. I just thought "my baby, a dog from an apartment, he has never ever gone swimming." I started to scream "Otavio, come back, please be careful!!!". All this happened in something like five seconds. I then realized the situation, everyone in that place was looking at me and laughing... I started to laugh too. After playing a bit more in the water, Otavio came back to me veeeeery happy. After that, I introduce the beach to Otavio and we tried to go sometimes to play in the water. For now, only on leash, because he is a very crazy dog and I´m a very worried(anxious) person. But anyway, it has been an amazing experience for both of us.
