the rooster sound !

Hi everyone,
I'm a french guy, and in France the rooster (coq in french) sound is <em>"Cocorico"</em> !

What is it in your country ?

For the story, the rooster is a french symbol ! There is even a brand called "le coq sportif".

Because Canada has two official languages (French and English) we must include both languages. So, in Canada the rooster would start the day by saying:

Bonjour... Cock-a-doodle-doo

Just kidding folks... our rooster sound is the same as the UK's 'Cock-a-doodle-doo'.

In English, the morning starts with the sound 'Cock-a-doodle-doo!'.

And in Britain, at least, we also say 'cock'. Unlike the more polite Americans, we don't tend to use the demure-sounding term 'rooster'. We're not embarrassed to say 'cock' in any situation ;)

In Persian, we say 'Ghoo-ghoo-lee ghoo-ghoo'

I see that you are a native French speaker. Note that I've written 'GH'. I guess the letter 'R' in French is the same as 'GH' in English. For example: 'Merci', I pronounce it like 'Meghsi'. However, the 'GH' sound doesn't exist in the English language. But we have it in Persian. I hope you understand what I mean by the letter 'GH'.

Also, some people use the letter 'Q' instead of 'GH'.

So, 'qoo-qoo-lee qoo-qoo'!

It's the normal 'R' sound in English & Persian. For example: 'Rooster'.

The 'r' in 'historical' at 0:13
It's the normal 'R' sound in English & Persian, again.

the 'r' in 'firstly' at 0:19
Sounds the same as 'Firstly' in a non-rhotic British accent!
I can't hear the 'R' sound here!

The 'ch' in 'Horsbroch' at 0:04
This is the 'KH' sound in Persian. --> خ

The 'gh' in 'might' at 0:32
I heard the 'KH' sound, again! --> خ

the 'gh' in 'daughter' at 1:00
LOL. To me, it's something between the 'KH' and 'GH'!

The 'gh' in 'eighth' at 1:17
I heard the 'KH' sound. --> خ

the 'gh' in 'brought' at 1:32.
I heard the 'KH' sound. --> خ

So, I didn't hear any 'GH' sound like 'Ghoo-ghoo-lee ghoo-ghoo' in Persian.

The 'GH' in Persian is really a CLEAR 'GH' sound.
