The social networks and the real friends

Thanks to the technology, we can contact with many friends around the world. But this friends often are superficial. The emails and social networks have made believe that it's posible to keep friends although we don't see them.

The social networks helps you to build bridges in order to be in contact with others, but it doesn't close to them.

@Mario - So you're saying it's exactly like real life then.

The only social network that I use is Facebook but I use it in a very limited way.  I very seldom post anything and I have never shared a post.  I find it to be a useful tool for remembering the names of the people that I meet socially whom I may only see once or twice a year.  It has also become the most common way that many social and community groups advertise events.  However, I do not consider someone to be a friend just because we are "friends" on Facebook.  As Laura said, a friends list on Facebook really is a contact list.

Hi Mario,

I do not have Facebook, Twitter or any of this "social networks" so I do not have any of those friends who people may add because they have got a friend request (something similar would happen here) and they are given the name of "friends" not to say "contacts", it looks nicer, I guess.

However, I have met people online and lately face to face who have become real friends (just a few, I could say 2 but they were worth meeting them!). Distance does not help (about meeting) but we keep in touch regularly and if there is anything we need we know we have each other (and we would move temporarily if that was necessary) so I do consider them truly friends.
