What do you know about Łódź (Lodz)? Any other cities? What do you know about Poland at all? what about Polish?

Good Day All,

I wonder what people from different countries know about my city and Poland at all.

Please let me know if you don't mind - anything that comes to your mind :)

Thank You!

I know that Poland has a rich cultural heritage and it has been "invaded: many times during the preceding centuries because of its location and geographical features.  I also know that there was a military hero who fought in the Revolutionary War here in the US, Thaddeus Kosciusko, which strangely enough, we have a brand of mustard with his name! (not many people even know this fact in the US nowadays). I know that Lech Walesa was the leader of Solidarity and he became president in the 1990's. And to recognize the language.....a lot of consonants together.....example: polszczyzna)!

<font face="Calibri">I know that Łódź had a very large textile industry in the late 19<font size="2">th</font> century and early 20<font size="2">th</font> century. If I remember correctly it had one of the largest textile factories in the world at the turn of last century. </font>

<font face="Calibri">Also the book "Ziemia obiecana" by Władysław Reymont is set in Łódź. I haven’t read the book but I have seen the film by Andrzej Wajda several times.</font>

I know Łódź is Wootch :)

It's one of the main cities of Poland, situated in the middle of the republic on the way between Wroclaw and Warszawa.

Nigdy nie byłem w Polsce :)

Polish is a Slavic language and to a great extent mutually understandable with Serbian, I've tested that. Polish people seam to have highly exaggerated ideas about the difficulty of Polish language. Sorry I don't know Lodz. I've only visited Warsaw and Krakow. Krakow is a truly beautiful city, especially the castle and the city center and the river, and the night life is very lively. And there is a national park near the Slovakian border that is stunning, with all the mountains and waterfalls and crystal clear little lakes. And the mine with statues made of salt. The food is really good and also cheap.
