What it feels like to know several laguages?
My mother language is Chinese, and I learned English and some Japanese. But I just can't learn them well, especially when I tried to learn both at the same time. Sometimes I saw some people on italki being able to know several languages, which makes me wonder how they learn so many languages simultaneously and how to keep the passion to learn languages. I even wonder how often they use those languages. Does everyone have the same question as I do?

Hi Wen, concerning about myself, I am curious about other countries, other cultures, and I am curious about new ways of thinknig. When I study a new language I somehow learn not only the "technical" language, but also a new point of view on everything, and it feels good ^_^

But I have been doing so far :
- I took some Lesson from several Teachers in iTalki.com

It feels normal. Being able to communicate is only normal. It feels just the same as only speaking Chinese when everyone you know speeks Chinese. But sometimes not speaking a language starts to feel bad and that's when you have to learn it to feel normal again.

I've been learning a bunch of languages on and off and from my experience its not so easy. It takes a lot of time and patience to progress every week. I would say, you should be realistic about your language learning goals and invest ample amount of time for each language depending on its difficulty level. I dedicate a week each for the language I learn on an average, 10 days for the ''hard'' ones.
