"Acquisition for this vacancy is not appreciated" Can a speaker of Dutch help me out?
I'm interested in applying for a PhD in Amsterdam and I see this line at the end of the description of the project: Acquisition for this vacancy is not appreciated.
I genuinely have no idea what it might mean, it is meaningless in English. You type it into Google and it comes back with website after website, all from the Netherlands. So I'm guessing it's a translation of a phrase from Dutch into English. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"By this it is meant that employment agencies shouldn't respond to it."
Hope it helps!

Sudeep, thanks a lot! Employment agencies shouldn't respond to the advert. Wow, never would have got that in a million years. Thanks again!

Well, if it's for some sort of temporary job, it could still mean that the compensation is fixed for the duration of the contract. Maybe. Otherwise, no clue. Maybe Dutch people can clarify...

Random guess: could they possibly mean that the stipend (="acquisition") does not increase (="appreciate") from year to year (or that a higher stipend cannot be negotiated)?

I don't think so, I've seen it on job adverts in addition to the PhD advert I originally found it on. The funny thing is they're all written in perfect English but they have this extremely strange phrase at the end. Genuinely stumped. I would guess 'appreciated' is being used in the sense of 'welcomed', as in they don't want certain things to happen. But what?
