Hey there! I have been a Community Tutor on this platform for half a year now. It's been great experience, specially because it fits my current lifestyle very well with my own schedules. I would love to know about your experiences as teachers as well :)

I do wonder one thing, how do teachers on Italki manage their calendar with all their classes +  other priorities (out of italki)?

I mean, do you only rely on Italki Calendar? Do you use any Management app? Or a physical notebook?

How do you keep track of your income, taxes, students...?

From my personal experience, I know that I am a messy person as default. So, I immediately relied on an external application to keep track of all my students and lessons.

The app I currently use is Airtable (it's sort of like Google Spreadsheet, but much more :D)

It has enabled me to organize everything my own way and it works marvelously. It gives an easy way to keep track of everything I input (from students information, how every lesson goes, what to do next class, monthly income, % of new students...). The greatest advantage I found is that it lets you see the overview of your teaching progress over time. The more info, the richer and useful it becomes.

I can talk more in detail about it if anyone is interested in this. My intention is actually to make a quick video tutorial + share the link of the template of my own base (of Airtable) so that the rest of the teachers can use it for themselves.

I did spend quite a decent amount of time building the table from scratch but since it's done already, I would love to see if it can benefit more people than only myself :)

I use Google Calendar for the lessons, Google Doc for everything lesson related (homework, student profile, lesson plan) and Google Spreadsheet for tracking my income. My big projects are outlined using mental maps with XMind and my "to-do's" with Trello. I'll be very interested in knowing more about how do you use Airtable.

Italki's scheduling system and reminders work well, but I sure would like it even more if there were a way to synch with google calendar.

Personally, I have a physical diary that is small enough to carry around with me. It has the week spread over two pages and there is a column for each day showing the hours. When I get a booking, it goes straight into the diary. This also allows me to see my week at a glance when a student asks me about availability. I keep track of the hours per day by writing the total at the top of a column, that way I don't get overwhelmed by accident. Install the italki app on your phone and you will get notifications before a session, one 2 hours before and another 30mins before.

You can also sync italki's calendar to google calendar, which is useful for double checking your schedule when you're out and about and have left your diary at home.

Thanks Lydia!  I hadn't tried it that way.  I have been experimenting with a different platform that used email codes.  It left something to be desired :(  Some kind of direct API support would be ideal but the iCal system looks like a big improvement.
