Have any of you guys tried the italki classroom to receive a language lesson yet?
If so, what did you guys think of it?
Now, at every class I book, I can no longer choose the way I'd like to be contacted, only italki classroom is shown as an option. Still, I message my teachers and tell them I'd like to use Skype.
Why?
Because it's a beta version, with limited resources, no encryptation and failures that still must be fixed.
There was a discussion about this topic a while ago, which I will link here. One of the teachers said that italki stil had access to her camera even after the session was ended. I will not put up with this kind of thing!

I am fearing a little bit to be obliged to use it. I have lessons with teachers who don’t always have a brilliant internet connection. I like Skype since the teacher can write instantly new words. I like also having all my informations in the same place. So I avoid for instance teachers who want absolutely to use Zoom.
And you Andrew did you use already this feature ?

It is my understanding that italki is placing students into italki classroom without any other options. I'm sure that your teachers are not choosing this italki classroom option either. Teachers see it when they accept the lesson request and have no responsibility in choosing it. Italki is responsible for leaving out the optional choices.
When I see this "italki classroom" I always confirm if my student chose it. So far, NEVER have any of my students chosen it. Why would they have the option to choose a communication tool that I don't show on my profile. I show skype, google hangouts and wechat. There is no italki classroom and it is not even an option for teachers to place on their profile.
