How in American English can I call the person whose job is repairing cars?

A mechanic mostly specifically refers to someone who fixes cars professionally. This includes all of those services.

So there is no difference in what exactly the person does? If he repairs electronic parts and if he changes tires or oil, I can call him a mechanic in both cases?
