Hi Online Teachers, (Watch a VIDEO BELOW)

We all have connection issues and technological problems during some of our classes. What do you do when this happens?

I've given some reminders and steps to follow when this kind of thing happens (video below).

Basically:

#1 - Connection issues is like a fart. Don't play the blame game.

#2 - Relax. These things happen. Turn the negative into a positive.

#3 - Turn it into a language lesson. Vocabulary, Expressions, and Phrasal Verbs about this theme!

For Skype problems during lessons, I have had mostly good results with the following tips:

Skype problems on a computer or tablet with a WiFi connection.

1) Audio noise - Stop the session. Call again. Usually, the second or third time is good.

2) Frozen video - Switch to audio-only. Less bandwidth is needed for voice than for video.

3) Problems continue - Switch from Skype on a computer/tablet to Skype on a phone.

I HAD CONNECTION PROBLEMS, I DID NOT TAKE A MINUTE OF CLASSES, TEACHER SAID MY SIGNAL WAS POOR, BUT I PAID A COMPLETE LESSON

No se pudo hacer la conexión bien, la señal se cortaba y no podíamos oírnos, la maestra dijo que mi señal era pobre, que solucionara ese problema, no tuvimos un minuto de clase, pero pagué la clase completa.

I am not a teacher, but I am an experienced student, and I can't understand teachers who don't have some backup solution: spare headphones, WiFi and mobile internet, laptop and tablet/smartphone. Once I had a trial lesson with a teacher with bad internet. Guess if we had the second lesson?

About the internet, be ready to use mobile internet in case of a problem with wifi, have an alternative to Skype like Whatsapp/Viber/Hangout. Switch off video. In the bad case reschedule the lesson.

I think you are talking about classroom lessons. Because if you have a connection problem during an online lesson, it is a real problem. I need to postpone it, then.
