I agree with this: label things in your house in english (or any language) and when you see them every day, you'll learn what everything is :)

One word; SRS

This is  "spaced repitition system" (SRS) flash card system.  I use ANKI (search online) for my SRS.  Of course, the above methods work as well, but when it comes to memorizing massive amounts of information, you really need to use a SRS alongside whatever else your doing. 

It is hard to explain here what exactly (SRS) is, but let me just say that in my Chinese deck there are 13,000 cards (about 9000 words in my deck), and I review only 150 each day.  This is only possible with s SRS system.  Recently websites such as smart.fm have tried to copy it and charge money, but they suck anyway.

write them on post-it notes and stick them on your fridge.

Read English everyday, like newspaper, short novels etc. that is the best way to pick up new words.
