There should be rules, a certain protocol that goes with it I believe. For instance, having a female inspector for girls, male inspector for boys. Have it done in a private location, but with other advisors. If there isn't there should be rules for it. Also, with the upgraded technology, if it meets the schools budget, they may inspect drugs with the local police dogs, use a scanner for guns, weapons, etc...other procedures. If anyone has an experience they believe is illegal, find the words by law that will protect you in case of a lawsuit, and and report them. You will not only help yourself, you will stand for a cause and help the others that come after you.  You must speak up first my friend, you must know by law what to say, use tactics.
