If I can put in my two cents...

I wish we were able to do with nuclear engery...it is obviously dangerous as you know from what happened in Japan last year. However, for now I have to say it is neccessary to use it because some countries depend on nuclear energy so much that they cannot sustain their economies without it.

In fact, some of the nuclear power plants were shut down and we had to get through planned blackouts for months, which caused a big mess all across the affected areas.

If many of us were willing to lower the current living standard and choose safty over enonomic recovery, it would be possible...
