In Brazil my favorite one is Saci Pererê.
He is a one-legged black boy who carries a pipe and wears a red cap. 
People say he lost his leg playing capoeira.
He loves playing and tricking people, specially salting the food, scaring horses and hiding people belongings.
The way he walks is "through" a whirl, and you can only control him after catching his red cap (which is called "carapuça") and locking him in a empty bottle. Without his cap and stucked in a bottle, you can promise to set him free after having a wish granted!  ;)
