The Characteristics of Chinese People It is well known that China is a great country that has a long history. With the passage of time over 5000 years, Chinese gradually develop their own characteristics. When it comes to the characteristics of Chinese people ,we can’t skip the one of the greatest educators and philosophers , Confucius. He put forward the idea that people should be merciful, tolerant and humble. The thought of Confucius has a great impact on Chinese people. The Chinese put much importance on personal relationships. They pay attention to the skills of speaking, try to make others at home, and they enjoy the warm atmosphere. However, when there is a conflict between two groups, usually Chinese in respective group will only strive for their own group, which makes the whole divided. And members in one group will be really nice to others. There are some differences between Chinese and Americans. Often, Chinese tend to be modest while Americans tend to be straightforward. And in China, things can be shared among close people, but in America, privacy is so important that even the closest friends would like to keep a slight distance. ======================================================== Umm,,,,In fact it is just one of my compositions...And I really don't know the exact differences...⊙﹏⊙b

Also we Chinese attach importance to face, prestige and pride, but I don't think it can save one's face to find excuses to avoid responsibility. Even Homer sometimes nods! Who does not err? Whereas, if we make mistakes, we should admit mistakes humbly, take responsibility and try to remedy it. It will not make ourselves lose face, contrarily it can keep our prestige and win the respect. The face is never given by others, but earned by ourselves!

Yes, we italian use often this sentence " is not my fault"; But not all have habit to say in that manner. Is a selfish way to answer in that way. You are right. I think that such one respond means keep our selves being proud.(pride,bad beast) But often this responce is only fear to lose our mask, to bare ourself. For this reason I think that the Humbleness could be learnt. We don't borns perfect but as life is a fight, and often we have need to make mistakes,have a bad behaviours, for grow, for understand that we not are owner on nothing.

I don't agree with Andrea, it does not equal to selfishness obviously to be modest . We Chinese are modest, but it does not mean that we don't discuss with others or don't express our true thoughts in order to be worldly wise, to play safe and to seek only to avoid blame. Everybody has his personal thought and standpoint, we don't like to impose our personal opinions upon others, while we keep our views, we don't negate others' views, because we respect everyone, everybody could have his own opinions in this democratic world. We are not arrogant no matter how great, because we know that there is always someone who is better!!! I have been in Italy for 2 years, in Italy, the word I heard most is "non è la colpa mia（it is not my fault）", before you say it, you never think over, when the problem arises, you never find the cause from your subjective factors, but always find the excuses from objective factors, in my personal view, it is really selfish. P.S.: by the way, in Italian "secondo me" means "for me", but in English, "second" has not the meaning of "for". Its meanings are as follow: 1. as an ordinal number word, the same as "secondo" in Italian; 2. as a noun, it means "assistant" or to express time; 3. as adjective, it means "secondary"; 4. as a verb, it means "agree".
