合出斯言 English meaning? 合出斯言.. I think this is a classical Chinese saying but I'm not sure... What exactly does this mean? Does it mean something like "Why do these words come out" ? Thanks!

My simple rule of thumb: 何出此言=why For example: A:我恨张三！I hate ZhangSan B:何出此言？Why?

it's kind of classical, but we still use it cause it's short and brief...especially in written Chinese...

When you don't understand why other people say something, you can ask "何出此言？"

Your understand is right but the first character is not correct. hé 何 - interrogative pronoun. where/what,the od ancient express of 什么(shen2 me) ie.何人？（什么人？）- who? chū 出 - Verb. go out of ie. 出去(qu4)- go out cí 此 - Noun here, this, old express of 这 ie. 此人(ren2) this people yán 言 - Noun. words, comments, old express of 话（hua4） ie. 语(yu3)言 language Combine with the others' explainations hope that can help you.
