Hi, Mark. No people speak like that. You speak:你叫什么(名字)？or "您贵姓？" or "(您/你)怎么称呼?" If they give you English name because you are a foreigner, just spaek"中文名字呢？" It's ok.

Hi nadia,if two students meet and they have nearly age and identity,"你叫什么？"is ok for this scene. If you want to show your respect "您贵姓?" is a better choice.
