In English the sentence is:

I prefer to get the later train because it's less busy

I have written the sentence in Italian but I am not sure if its correct?

io preferisco prendere il treno tardi perche meno impegnato

Preferisco prendere il treno più tardi perchè trovo meno gente/perchè non è affollato/perchè posso trovare un posto libero  ecc

The first part of his sentence is correct.
The adjective "impegnato" is wrong.
Maybe you want to write "affollato ( full of people ).

I write the new sentence:
io preferisco prendere il treno tardi perche meno affollato.
