Improvements in life expectancy affect individual decision on the time of the work. Senior citizens who are regarded as experienced, skillful and healthy are most likely to remain in the work force or to postpone their retirement in order to generate additional income. However their contribution to the society may lead to the consequence that providing less work opportunities to the young generation. Secondly, Aging also affects social pension schemes inevitably. The increasing numbers of senior citizens will claim benefits over a much longer period than at present, which is the strongest pressure on government budgets. The other challenging is that government needs to guarantee adequate income for old people without creating an unbearable load for the younger age groups. Lastly, aging is taking place alongside other social trend which will affect the lives of older people. Thanks to our modern lifestyle, family unit has become smaller and they are less likely to live with older generations. The elders are often alone and solitary with less family support. In this case, our society need to play important role to set up better care systems ensuring the well-being of growing number of older citizens. Based what have been discussed above, we have seen clearly that aging population have effect on both individuals and society. In order to achieve the goals effectively of better social security, I believe a new reform of economic support system must be taken into consideration.
