Exercise: Invitation Letter Task description: Last month you had a holiday overseas where you stayed with some friends. They have just sent you some photos of your holiday. Write a letter to your friends. In your letter: •thank them for the photos and for the holiday •explain why you didn't write earlier •invite them to come and stay with you Answer: Dear Alice and John, I hope this letter finds well. I miss the days we spent together last month in your house during my trip in your country. I’ve just received the photos you sent to me. In them, I saw the awesome and picturesque beauty of your backyard, the landmark buildings and everything. Thank you. I’m really sorry for not writing to you soon after I left your country. When I arrived Shanghai, before I can have a rest after the tired flight, my boss telephoned me and asked me to go to work for an emergency. Then, I had to work extra time, racing against time to fulfill the task in the entire month. That’s why not until recently did I have the time to write to you. Next month, Shanghai will witness a film festival, when dozens of international stars will come here. I suppose you’ll like it. So why not come to Shanghai so that I can return you the favour?
