I can hear difference in pronunciation of Xie Xie

I can hear difference in pronunciation of Xie Xie. When people speak around me I can hear in their pronunciation the sound "sh" like in word "she" - shye shye. But when I'm listening anouncing in subway I hear "sh+s", "s" like in "sea". Can someone else hear it?

p.s. after recording the sound was changed on shye.
