Summary: A Streetcar Named Desire
Blanche DuBois, a schoolteacher from Mississippi, arrives at the New Orleans apartment of her pregnant sister Stella Kowalski, who is married with her husband Stanley Kowalski. Blanche tells Stella that she lost their noble home called Belle Reve. Her heavily drinking is a sign that all is not well with Blanche. During the stay at her sister’s apartment, Blanche get involved in a disagreement between Stella und Stanley which ends in Stanley beating Stella up. The two sisters escape to the neighbor’s apartment, but a short while later Stella returns to Stanley. Blanche tries to convince her sister to leave her husband for a better man whose social status is as equal to Stella's. Blanche dates Mitch, who is one of the poker friends of Stanley. At Blanche's birthday, Stanley tells the guests about Blanche's past and also that she lost her job because she had an affair with a teenage student. Mitch breaks up with her and Stanley's birthday present was a one-way ticket back to Mississippi. In the evening, at her birthday, Blanche sits alone, drunken at home, when suddenly Mitch arrives. Mitch tried to have sex with Blanche. Later Stanley comes home from hospital and Blanches is even more drunk. She tells him a story which wasn’t real, but Stanley is so happy about his baby that he doesn’t mind. Stanley carries her to bed and possibly he rapes her in that night.
Weeks later, a doctor and a nurse arrive and take Blanche in an insane asylum, but Blanche believes that she will spend her entire life with a millionaire.
