Argentina in love with Curling
For some strange reason, the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014 have enamored Argentinians. It's not difficult to understand, there is much more snow in Argentina than people use to think that there is. But there is one game we have discovered thanks to this Olympic fever, curling. A lot of people have fallen in love with this amazing game. We have a game called bochas that is very similar, not the same, but similar. I think that is the reason that Argentinians feel curling is so familiar. Some sports journalists are making a campaign to gather funds to build a place to play it!! I will be there if they can build it, I think it is an amazing sport, very strategic and interesting.
Today, a journalist took a kettle and a broom and he tried to explain it to the people on the street how play it!! It was really funny!!
Some decades ago, only wealthy people could practice winter sports in my country, but now that has changed. I hope someday Argentinian athletes could have enough the sponsors and money to travel to winter competitions and show their skills, because they work a lot!
As well as Greg's corrections, I would add that the phrase "there is much more snow in Argentina than people use to think that there is" is incorrect. "Used to" is used to indicate a habitual activity in the past, but there is no present tense form of this construction; the simple present tense is enough to convey a sense of habitual action. Here you can just say "there is much more snow in Argentina than people think" (you can also leave out "...that there is" at the end, it's not necessary and makes the sentence a bit cumbersome).
