The most of people has the same problem when they are learning a foreign language, and ask to themselves; ¿How I can to do to improve my pronunciation? I also am a learner of language, so I gonna say how to do it. I've studied english since 17 december 2013, (yes, I'm in my second month of study to myself, and I started from scratch!) and I realized what's important is the correct pronunciation few weeks ago. I looked for on the internet and I found a good-enough exercise to really improve our pronunciation. It's a Luca Lampariello exercise. Luca is a italian polyglot man who speak ten languages, but that's really amazing is he speaks Italian (of course), English, German and Spanish like a native speaker! I watched his videos on Youtube, and I readed his posts in his website. The most important come here: he says that the pronunciation and intonation is not the same things. Pronunciation is about how to sound every word and Intonation is about how to sound the complete sentence, how to sound every word depend of context and how is the rythm of the language. Ok, but how do I to work it, Mr Learner? First of all, dowload a phrase from the computer longer that four seconds. Dowload the slow version as well. Listen over and over again in order to try to figure out how this language work. Hear its rhythm. Write the sentences. Separate between slashes in where you think there are little pauses (in all sentence there are). Try to figure out the intonation, and repeat it over and over out loud. Do the same with more sentences. Luca said that (for example) if you want to say "I wanna go to Rome", the sound "Rome" is not the same at first of the phrase, than in the end; and you need to master this differences to do your pronunciation perfect, or at least pretty close to the native speakers. To improve in anything, you need to be patient and put goals, because the longer walks, It started with a first step. I've just given to you a simple advice to achieve your dreams of speak a foreign language. Be patient, visualize yourself pronouncing like a native speaker, put no pressure in yourself, and, most of all, enjoy the process of learning a new language. Please correct me, be a grammar nazi! :)
