Whew! Finished the Italki Challenge! So, as it turned out, it wasn't easy. By no means would I call it impossible. If you are motivated to learn and spread it out, you should be able to do it. When I made my last post at the halfway point, I hadn't ran into any problems. But things happen. Over the course of my challenge, four lessons had to be rescheduled because either the teacher or I had something unexpected come up, and two lessons were cancelled because the teacher didn't show up (I still haven't heard anything—hope she's all right…). Instant Tutoring saved me. Without being able to schedule a couple quick lessons this afternoon, I would have been sunk. Not because of any lack of motivation or due diligence, but things happen. I think I've come a long way. The first few lessons were terrifying. I had only studied French for a month and I didn't feel prepared at all. But like going to the gym, you quickly realize that this anxiety and fear will turn into progress and satisfaction after you do it. I am nowhere near fluency, but I have become a great deal more comfortable expressing myself with French people, even people I have never spoken with before. I recommend taking the plunge. The next time Italki offers one of these, do it! But keep in mind that you may have to stay on your toes to finish.
