The Magical Brush and Ma Liang Long long ago, there was a child named Ma Liang. He was into drawing but his family was so poor that he culodn’t afford a brush. One day when he was on his way home after herding the cattle, he saw a painter holding a brush and drawing a portrait for a rich official in the studying hall. He stood entranced of the scene and could not help walking inside it. He begged the official and the painter sincerely, “ Would you give me a brush? I want to learn drawing. ” They sneered at his words and replied, “Do poor child want to learn drawing? “ and then they drove out Ma Liang. Of course, Ma was very angry at their words and thought to himself: I never believe poor children like me can’t be a painter. From that day on, he was applied himself ot learning drawing. He used branches to draw bird flying in the sky on the sand when collecting firewoods in the mountains He used the grass roots to draw fishes swimming in the river at the beach. He drew whatever he could see. “Will you draw drawings for the those rich officials once yu have learned to draw? “ Someone asked Ma one day. Ma shook his head and answered,“I won’t ! I only draw for the poor. ” As days went by, Ma had made great progress in drawing, but he still had got a brush. One day, he was lying in the bed when there appeared a ray of golden light along with an old man with white beard in his house. The old man gabe Ma a brush and said,”Ma Liang, here is a brush for you and you must remember your promise that you only draw for the poor.” How happy Ma was! He immediately drew a rooster on the wall,strangely, the rooster was alive ,flew from the wall, jumped on the windowsill and began to crow. It turned out that the old mand gave him a magical brush. Ma had been drawing pictures for the poor in his village since he had got the brush. He could drew whatever the villagers wanted and whatever he drew would be become real. One day as he made his way along a field, he saw a peasant and a child ploughing their field. They tried hard to pull the plough but failed for the soil was too hard. Ma took out his magical brush and drew a big bull. Mooing, the bull began to pull the plough. A rich official heard of the magical brush, so he sent his men to take Ma into custody. He then asked Ma to draw sycees but Ma refused him and said “ I was unable to draw sycees.” The official was annoyed at his words and put him into prison.

At midnight, the soldiers who guardsed the prison [多餘]fell asleep whereupon Ma Liang drew a door on the wall. It opened the door and he whispered to his fellow prisonersthe villagers,

 

“Let’s get out quickly!

 

Everyone escaped. The official sent some soldiers to chase after them when he heard how Ma Liang had escaped. py to have water wagons.??? Just at that moment, some soldiers rushed out of the crowd and catched caught Ma Liang.  with a They put a shackle around his neck.


The official invited then had a painter come and asked him to draw him a cash golden cow with Ma Liang's magic brush. The cash cow When the drawing was finished, the official was so glad gleeful that he hurriedly run to shake at it. unexpectedly, He hit his head hit on the wall and from his forehead grew some bumps! bubbles, What’s Worse still, the drawing was still a drawing and didn’t turn to cash cow remained as such - a painting on the wall. The perplexed official walked over to Ma Liang and set him freed him from the shackles.  He said with all sweetness he can muster, and then pretend to be kind saying,


”Ma Liang, please draw a drawing for me!”


In order to get back his brush back, Ma Lian agreeed,


Ok, I am pleased to draw it for you. As you wished, your Lordship.


The official was extremely happy delighted and returned the brush without hesitation. He then asked Ma for a drawing of a gold hill for him. Saying nothing, Ma Liang said nothing and began to draw an ocean wide sea upon the wall. The official was angry and chidedscolded,


”Who ask you to draw had asked for the sea? Draw quickly my hill of the gold hill! for me quickly.


Upon hearing his words, Ma Liang then drew a gold hill of gold in the center middle of the sea. The official jumped up and down excitedly,


and repeated,Draw A big ship quickly! My gold hill!  My gold hill!"I will take it to carry gold. ”


Ma Lian [You should not just use the last name in writing stories.  It sounds very very cold and 無人情味. 是上司对下人之称] quickly drew a big large ship.

Of course, Ma Liang was very angry at their words and thought to himself,


"I never believe poor children like me can’t be a painter!"


From that day onwards, he was applied himself at learning how to drawing. Instead of a brush, he used branches to draw a flying bird in the sky on the sand when as he collected firewoods in the mountains. He used grass roots to draw fishes swimming in the river by its bank. He drew whatever he saw.


“Will you draw for rich officials once you have learnthow to draw?“


Someone asked Ma one day. The budding artist shook his head and answered,


No! I won’t! I only draw for the poor.”


As time passed, our little hero had made great progress in drawing but yet a brush to be held in his hand. Then one day, while he was lying in the bed when a golden ray appeared. In it was white bearded old man. He gave Ma a brush and said,


”Ma Liang, here is a brush for you! Remember well your promise that you draw only for the poor.”


Ma Liang was elated! He immediately drew a rooster on the wall. Then something strange happened. The rooster became alive! It flew out of the wall and through the windowsill it jumped and began to crow! Ma Liang was given a magic brush! [Use exclamations to denote excitement]


Eversince that fateful day, Ma Liang had been drawing for the village poor. He drew whatever the villagers asked. Whatever he drew would turned real

One day, as he made his way along a field, he saw a peasant and a child tried to plough their field. Hard as they tried pulling the plough but not an inch it moved; for the soil was too solid. [This is because "hard" was used not too long ago] Ma Liang whipped out his magic brush and drew a big bull. Soon the mooing bull began to pull the plough.


A rich official then heard of the magic brush and called his men to send for Ma Liang custody[Wrong word]. He then asked Ma Lian to draw an ingot of gold sycees [Not many people know of this archaic word. It derives from the Cantonese pronunciation of 細絲]. Ma Liang refused,


“I am unable to draw them.”


The official was annoyed at his words and threw him into prison.

The Magical Brush and Ma Liang and the Magic Brush


Long long ago, there was a child boy named Ma Liang. He was into loves to drawing but his family was being so poor that he culodn’t they couldn't afford to buy a brush. One day, when as he was on his way home after herding the cattle, he saw a painter holding a brush and was drawing a portrait for a rich official in the studying hall. He stood entranced of at the scene and could not help himself but to walking inside it. Sincerely, he asked begged the official and the painter sincerely,

 

Would Please, can you give me a brush? I want to learn how to drawing.” [No space after the first quote and none before the enclosing one] 

 

They sneered at his words and retorted replied,

 

Do Why does a poor child want to learn to drawing?“ and then


With this, they drove out Ma Liang out of the place.

The official jumped on the ship along with a lot all his soldiers, and said,

 

Let the ship move Set sail at once!quickly, let the shop move quickly.

 

As the ship journed towards the mountain of gold, Ma Liang began to draw up the wind. and The sails of the began to puff up mast began to rise. The ship was leaving for the center of the sea. The official in his zest to reach his gold mountain quickly, then ordered him stronger winds to be drawn the wind strongly. Ma drew more Stronger winds came and there was a strong stir in the sea began to astir in greater force, , which causing the ship wobble greatly.  tilted a lot. The official was getting a little frightened and ordered him to stop drawing the wind. However, Ma Liang ignored him and continued drawing the wind. Now the winds was more and more strong; howled and the sea was roaring churned. Finally the ship turned over and all of men in the ship capsized and all onboard sank into the depths of the ocean sea. Ma Liang then returned to the village and drew drawing for the poor again.

 

You English is not too bad.  However, you need more work and better vocabulary and knowledge of more English idioms to make such writing come alive.

The official jumped excitedly and repeated,”Draw a big ship quickly, I will take it to carry gold. ” Ma drew a big ship. The official jumped on the ship with a lot soldiers and said,”Let the ship move quickly, let the shop move quickly. ” Ma drew wind and the sail of the mast began to rise. The ship was leaving for the center of the sea. The official then ordered him to draw the wind strongly. Ma drew more wind and there was a strong stir in the sea, which caused the shop tilted a lot. The official was a little frightened and ordered him to stop drawing wind. Ma ignored him and continued drawing wind. The wind was more and more strong; the sea was roaring. The ship turned over and all of men in the ship sank into the depth of the sea. Ma returned to village and drew drawing for the poor again.
