Whether we should check every new words while reading an English book
Today, I discussed how to read an English book with some friends. Some think that if you encounter [or come across] a new word while reading, you should check its meaning in a dictionary immediately. Others think that you don't have to know its exact meaning, and should just ignore the word and continue your reading. At last we came to the opinion that how you deal with a new word depends on the purpose of your reading. If you are just reading a novel or something, you can ignore the new words at first, but, if a new word comes up again or that new word occurs [or comes up or appears] frequently, then you should check its meaning. However, if you want to improve your vocabulary when you read an English book, then you should check every new word you come across. I think we had an interesting and helpful discussion today.
Hello. Your English is very good but to improve you could practice more with phrasal verbs and continous tenses. Also, beware of writing very long sentences which don't sound natural in English. I am an experienced, native English-speaking teacher so I would be happy to help you. Please take a look at my teacher profile and send me a message if you would like to book a tutoring session.
Best wishes,
