TOEFL Practice - Tidal Power (lecture vs reading passage) I am preparing for the TOEFL exam and I am asked to summarize and contrast the main points of a lecture and a reading passage. Please correct not only grammaticaly, but structuraly. I would really appreciate that. In the lecture, the professor discusses the drawbacks of the implementation of tidal power. Tidal power, which is the use of water tides to produce energy, is said to be a good source of power in the reading passage, because it is renewable and non-polluting, and also because it is an alternative to fossil fuel, which is becoming gradually scarce. However, the lecturer is not sure about its benefits. First of all, she thinks that it is not able to produce the necessary energy to supply power to a large city. Only specific regions would benefit from tidal poewer, leaving a great part without electricity Second, it has a negative impact on the environment. The implemenation of this systems affects the wildlife and underwater habitats, because it combines salad water with river water. This conditions make the proliferation of red tide possible, which in turn damages life underwater, not allowing animals to live under these conditions. Third, it affects locals whose main supply depends on fishing, since their main commercialized products will be affected. Besides, the power plants make it difficult to navigate those waters. Therefore, their income will suffer from the tidal power's plants. To sum up, tidal power would have more disavantages than benefits and as such its effectivness is should be not taken for granted.
