When I first heard the song "Dance With My Father" by Luther Vandross on the radio,
I almost cried even though I couldn't catch every single word of the lyrics.
This song is just beautiful and I love it very much!!!

However, I still don't really understand the lyrics yet.
I wonder why his father left a dollar "under my sheet" and not somewhere else like under his pillow?
Is it an American cultural thing?? I'm just curious.

I have never heard the expression to leave a dollar under someones sheet, I agree that it should be pillow - it is possibly artistic licence - the artist has changed the words to fit his piece.
