My hometown Bielefeld With a population of about 300,000 inhabitants, Bielefeld is only the 19th largest city in Germany. Bielefeld is not one of the fancier German towns like Berlin, Dresden or Leipzig and obviously there isn't an awful lot of famous world history that was written in Bielefeld. Hoewever, I think it is still well worth a visit. The city centre consists of two areas, there's the main shopping area of the town where you find all sorts of popular brands. The most picturesque part of my town is the old-market place of on the other side of the centre. where you can find the city hall and the old theatre. Twice a week there's still a market with fresh fruit and vegetables. If you want to stroll and relax for a while, you've got the choice between many atmospheric cafés where you can just sit and relax in your free time or during work breaks. If you want to grasp the atmosphere of living in Germany today or in earlier days you should probably go to one of Bielefeld's museums. If you decide to visit the outdoor "Bauernhausmuseum", which can be translated as the farmhouse museum, you will find out how farmers lived traditionally. You could take a look inside a mill, bake some bread in an old-fashioned oven or listen to Grimm's famous fairy tales close to the fire in one of the farm houses. Hi Andi, thanks for correcting my text. I've never met a person outside Germany who knew about the conspiracy theory of Bielefeld. I didn't mention it because it's a whole different story:) I am truly surprised how famous it has become !!
