Experience of British cuisine The task of this week is getting to know more about the british cuisine. I decided to start with asking my language partner about his personal preferences. And what was my surprise at finding out that the only food he's consumnig that could be called traditional is roast beef and it's not even his favourite one. He, like most of people nowadays, favours Italian food. But I would't let it go and it turned out to be that at childhood he was keen on the local sweet treats, especially the Yorkshire pudding with golden syrup. That's great cause as I wrote previously I'm a big fan of Yorkshire at every aspect and this dish is relatively unknown in my country. So I spent whole evening reading about it and even thinking of trying to cook one myself (it didn't work out, finding golden syrup in average Russian towns is close to impossible). Anyway being so inspired I couldn't just sit on my hands so I baked parkin (gingerbread cake, often associated with Yorkshire). I'm looking forward to finding out more details on British cuisine and not just knowing but also trying it.
