Is there any diffrence between talk to and talk with? Some sources say that "talk to" means to talk TO people whether one or more. Whereas "talk with" is a defination of talk. Eg. talk with a loud voice, talk with gratitude. Others claims that there’s essentially NO difference when two people are having a conversation, and both of them are speaking. And some people say that talk to should be used when it’s only one person speaking, and talk with should be used when it’s more of a two-sided discussion. Can you help me to find a right option? Thank you!

As you said, there are divergent opinions regarding "talk with" and "talk to".  In my view, "talk with" clearly indicates a conversation in which two or more people speak.  "Talk to" can be used both when only one person speaks and when more than one person speaks.

Hi Alya We do have an expression, in English "to give a talking to (somebody)," which means to tell somebody off. To tell off is a phrasal verb meaning to criticise somebody about their behaviour or something that they have said. What you say above about "talking with a loud voice," is possible, but it would be much more common to say "talking *in* a loud voice," in this context. With the exception of the expression "to give a talking to (somebody)," then I would say that there is little difference, in every day usage between "talking to," somebody and "talking with," somebody: 1) I have to give my brother a talking to = I need to tell him off. 2) I have to talk to my brother = I need to discuss something with my brother. 3) I have to talk with my brother = I need to discuss something with my brother.

If (a is with b) then (b is with a), in other words, they are together. Thus comes if (a talks with b) then (b talks with a), in other words, they talk together; a parity or two-sided discussion or dialogue. Whereas .... If (a talks to b) then (b talks to a)? Clearly no. b could be unwilling or unable to talk to a. b might talk to a, but we are not told that; simply that a talks to b. In other words, there is no parity, and quite possibly a monologue. I think!
