GREEN SUMMER
In summer, we have a program with name “Mùa Hè Xanh” – it means green summer- a volunteer campaign. Every period is long about 1 month. This is the campaign for students who have 3 months for free every studying year. In this campaign, the students come to remote villages in over our country where people need to help many things. The students who join in Green Summer Campaign are called “Chiến sĩ Mùa Hè Xanh”- it means they are Green Summer soldiers or volunteer soldiers.
Coming to remote village, the students can build bridges, houses, water- well and many things which the region need and the students can help. They also help to teach children whose parents are poor and can’t go to school. They stay with local people and live as the native people all through the progress. There are a leader and two, three or more deputy leaders in every team. They have to meeting together to decide important things in team such as: arranging task for everyone, instructing for new man, cooperating with a region government…Every deputy leader is in charge of one small group in the big team. Every group has from 6 to 10 students, is divided from a big team. And they stay at many villages in a town which need to help. They live as a big family with older sisters, brothers and younger sisters, brother. Some of them go out and do hard work, others teach the children and cook dishes for their meals by themselves. All through campaign, the students always help one another. The older share their experiment experience with the younger and tell in confidence so their sentiment is grown up naturally. And the region men love the volunteer together.
After every campaign, they usually say good bye in their tears because they don’t want to say good bye each other, their memories. After years ago, they still miss about the place, the man and the wonderful memory. They said: this is a beautiful memory in all their life.
