Zebra Mussel (Practice for TOEFL ibt) There are two different points of view around zebra mussels and their skill to adapt in another habit. The passage says that in the case that a zebra mussel would move to one place to another, there will be a possible invasion, because zebra mussels would not have something that stop them and according to the lecture it was true in the past because people did not have enough knowledge to try to stop this event, but now there are different options in which this invasion could be stop. Moreover, it is mentioned in the reading passage that a zebra mussel can dominate a new habitat because they would not have any predator, but that is not totally true. Despite no natural predators in watter, if they move on to a different habitat the aquatic birds would eat them, because zebra mussels would be part of this new enviorment and aquatic birds will make them part of their diet. Finally if zebra mussels dominate, they won't cause a decline in fish population. The reason is that not all the fish population eat plankton, and for that sector who do not eat plankton their presence would have a positive impact.
