The Embarrassing Moment of My Life I have an embarrassing memory which was brought by my favorite food — seaweeds. Japanese people commonly eat seaweed, especially a seaweed product called nori. Nori is sheets of dried seaweed and definitely an essential ingredient to the Japanese cuisine such as sushi and rice balls. I really like its unique flavor and eat them on a daily basis. By the way, one day, I went to a popular ramen shop near my flat before my doctor appointment. I ordered ramen and extra nori as I'm very fond of seaweed. After eating tasty ramen, I saw my doctor, but I found that he looked at me somewhat awkwardly. I wasn't sure what his strange facial expression meant. However, I eventually found the reason when I went to a bathroom and looked at a large mirror: the seaweeds I ate at lunch stuck to my teeth and my face looked like a silly clown. My cheeks burned with embarrassment. I still like seaweeds, but I've tried to avoid eating nori just before meeting someone.

An Embarrassing Moment of My Life

I have an embarrassing memory which was caused by my favorite food—seaweed. Japanese people commonly eat seaweed as an everyday part of our diet, especially a seaweed product called nori, which are thin sheets of dried seaweed. They are an essential ingredient to certain well-known Japanese cuisine items such as sushi and rice balls, and as I really like its unique flavor, I often eat them on a daily basis.

One day, I happened to have gone to a popular ramen shop near my flat right before my doctor appointment. I then ordered a noodle meal, one with extra nori since I am very fond of it. After eating this tasty dish, I then saw my doctor, and while it was a rather routine examination, I noticed that he often looked at me quizzically, if not intently, now and then.

For the life of me, I could not figure out the reason behind his amusement. Eventually, however, I discovered the reason when I went to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror: some of the seaweed that I ate at lunch had stuck to my teeth, so whenever I smiled or showed them, I looked like a silly clown—one with missing teeth! My cheeks, quite literally, burned with embarrassment.*

I still like seaweed, of course, but now, I definitely try to avoid eating it right before meeting with someone!

Hi, Yuko. Good job! The changes that I made were to allow your sentences to sound more natural to my native ears, to clarify and explain your ideas, and for ease of reading. Apologies if I misinterpreted your thoughts!  I hope that this helps you. J.

*Thank for sharing! Although at your expense, it was a good laugh for those of us who read your post. Whenever I notice something like that, I just tell the person directly, as I would hope that others would tell me. More importantly, before I see my doctor or dentist, I make sure that everything is squeaky clean and presentable. Regardless, such moments are part of the “human condition,” so nothing to be acutely embarrassed about. All of us have “been there, done that!”

Very nicely written; almost perfect!

Be aware that "by the way" indicates that you're diverging from the main topic or making a side note. On the other hand "anyway" indicates that you're going to continue discussing the main topic, so that's what you want to use here.
