Hi Sally, yes there is a difference between the two and it is as follows.
Drawing is the act of using lines to create a design. Drawing can be done with so-called dry media, such as a pen, chalk, charcoal, pencil, ink, or markers, and is usually done on paper or canvas.
The use of paint defines painting, or a similar wet medium such as ink, to produce artwork using various colors.

Drawing is forming a structure, and painting is adding colour to the structure.

Hello Sally!
With regards to painting, drawing is a common denominator of it. You won't produce a finished product of an image without starting with the basics of drawing. I hope this helps! 😊

You draw with a pencil/ pen or crayons or charcoal (something hard)
You paint with liquid paints or hard blocks of water colour paint with water+brush; or with oil paints that usually come in tubes and are soft (like toothpaste).
