Girl at the piano
What does this sentence mean? Could anyone explain it to me? “To succeed in life, you need three things: A wishbone, a backbone, and a funny bone.”

This is a poetic way to say, to succeed you need a dream, courage, and a sense of humor.

I really like this quote! It means in order to succeed, you need to have hope (for good luck), strength (mental or emotional), and a sense of humor. Here's a little background on the meaning of the quote: 1. Wishbone - A wishbone is a bone that is at the front of a bird's chest and that is shaped like a "V". Traditionally, people in the United States will break the wishbone in half (after eating a chicken or turkey) to see who is left with the bigger piece of the wishbone. The person left with the bigger piece is said to be guaranteed to have good luck. This is why you would want a wishbone. 2. Backbone - To describe a person as having a "backbone" is to say that they have great strength and courage. People that are survivors are said to have strong backbones. They are people that have overcome hardship. 3. Funny Bone - The funny bone is a place at the back of your elbow where you feel a painful tingling sensation when it is hit. It's not really funny (it's painful), but if you are hit in that place, we call it hitting your funny bone. The author of this quote is being clever when they include "funny bone" in the expression. I hope this helps!
