Traveling to the United States? Memorize these ten phrases and you’ll handle airports, hotels, and everyday questions with ease.
1. “Excuse me, could you help me, please?”
Polite opener that makes strangers more willing to assist.

Swap in restroom, baggage claim, ATM—anything you need.
3. “I need to check in, please.”

“Could you…?” sounds friendlier than “Can you…?”

Quick way to learn if your morning meal is free or extra.
8. “Could I get the Wi-Fi password, please?”
Wi-Fi = /WHY-fye/ in American English.
