I went to Nogeyama Zoo the day before yesterday. It was warm and beautiful
Sunday, so it was a good day to visit the zoo and see the animals. The zoo is free to
enter, and it is not so far from my house, takes about 20 minutes by car, so my
parents took me there many times when I was a child. Even though the entrance
fee is free, there are various kinds of animals. For example, penguins, lions,
bears, jaguars, zebras, and so on. I especially like red pandas. They were my
favorite when I was little. We could get to see them very close up and take
pictures of them. They were so cute and I was so excited and happy. By the way,
the reasons why I went to the zoo are not only to see the animals but also to
visit the Polar Bear’s house. They had been being used for polar bears until 1999.
Unfortunately, all of the polar bears disappeared, so the zoo gave up breeding
them. However, the breeding shed is opened as a small kind of museum, and we can
learn about polar bears and how to breed them and visit inside the shed that
we are often allowed to enter. It was for the first time in 10 years, so I felt
nostalgia.
