What do you call these in UK? These comments from the British confused me.

I'm in the US, but based on Rob's answer, I'm guessing these would definitely be "chips": https://lovefoodies.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/The-BEST-EVER-Beer-Battered-Fish-and-ChipsH-720x540.jpg https://images.immediate.co.uk/production/volatile/sites/30/2020/11/Air-fried-chips-c3a5d44.jpg?quality=90&resize=556,505 And these could probably be called either "chips" or "fries": https://i1.wp.com/smittenkitchen.com/wp-content/uploads//2017/03/easier-french-fries.jpg?fit=1200%2C800&ssl=1 (In the US all of the above would be "fries," although we do use the term "fish and chips" when we talk about a plate of food that comes with fish and fries/chips, as in the first image above.)

In Britain the fried potato products that come in a foil packet are called CRISPS. In Britain French fries are called French Fries or CHIPS. in Britain we also have big fat CHIPS! (Big fat fries if you like.)
