He is looking for a present to buy his girlfriend. Is the sentence correct? Befor 'buy' 'for' is omitted. Right? Thank you!

There's actually a rule that if you put the indirect object (his girlfriend) at the end of the sentence, you *must* use a preposition. The direct object is of course the present. "He is looking for a present to buy for his girlfriend." Without "for", it sounds as if he's going to buy a girlfriend.

IT IS BETTER TO SAY SIMPLy: He is looking to buy a present for his girlfriend.
