"不"and“没” are negative。“不” is opposite of“ 是”。“没” is opposite of “有” do you understand? if you wanna express the concept of" have or don't have", you may use the “没” 。if you wanna express the concept of negation. you should use the “不”

The tricky thing about 不 and 没 is that they both serve to negate, however they work differently. 不 is used when talking about future and present actions. 明天不会下雨- It won't rain tomorrow. 今天不下雨 It's not raining today. 不 is probably more flexible than 没 .It can be used in a rhetorical question: 你不吃早饭吗?-Aren't you eating breakfast? 他不是去图书馆了吗?-didn't he go to the library? 你不喜欢草莓吗?-don't you like strawberries? It goes with most words to express "not" i.e. 他不是我弟弟(he is not my little brother),她不在家(she is not home),我不来上课(I'm not coming to class) 不对 -[that's] not correct also when you say "can't" you'd be using "不“ 他不会说英语 - he can't speak English, or 他不能吃苹果 - he can't eat apples. 你不可以看电视-you may not watch t.v. 没 can not be used with 能,会and 可以。 没(short for 没有) is used when an action has not happened. So you can only use it in the present and past tense: 他没吃早饭- he didn't have breakfast. 我们没去电影院-we didn't go to the movie theater. it is also used with '过' to indicate negative experience.没 + verb + 过 我没去过中国 - I haven't been to China before. 他还没看过那部电影 - he hasn't seen that movie yet. Note: 不 can't be used with '过' Compare 不and 没 with the following verbs: 不买(doesn't buy)不卖(doesn't sell),不吃(doesn't eat),不喝(doesn't drink),不看(doesn't watch), 没买(didn't buy),没卖(didn't sell),没吃(didn't eat),没喝(didn't drink),没看(didn't watch) I think the reason why this can be a little confusing, is due to how different we speak in English and how Chinese speak in Mandarin. In English we say: "I'm not interested in chess." But in Mandarin, it would be: 我对下棋没(有)兴趣: which translates to "I don't have interest in chess." Or the sentence "I didn't like her before", you might think we would use 没 since it negates actions that *didn't* happen but no matter if I 'dont like her now' or 'didnt like her in the past" (我以前不喜欢她) we still use 不(not 没) since there isn't tense, the only part that changes is the time (以前 before) I think the more and more you study Mandarin, the easier it will become. Good luck!

不 mosty used to express the opposite of 'yes'. For example. Is this an apple? --No it is not. 不,这不是苹果. 不对:wrong, not correct.etc. 不去:not going. 不明白:do not understand. 不知道:do not know.have no idea. 不可能:not possible. 不容易:not easy. ETC. 没 mostly express do not have. for example,没有:do not have. 没问题:do not have problems. 没关系:do not have connection,do not have relations. 没时间:do not have time. 没钱:do not have money. ETC. ^^ ur teacher is lucky to have a student like u.
