The use of the passive voice is more often then not used to exemplify actions instead of doers and when blame will be put on one person, the passive voice is used to lesson the trouble that one might get into. 'the soccer team won the match' not 'number 13 won the match' y was completed by x not x completed y and the deadline was not met vs John made a mistake Nick.
