here are rough translations of these suffixes to their English equivalents. and translations of Yasemin's examples. -arak = by ....ing Buraya koşarak geldim. (to here) (by running) (I came) literally, i came here by running. proper translation to English is probably simply "I came running here" olmak (to be) + arak -> olarak. this one simply means "as" eg) doktor olarak çalışıyorsun. = You are working as a doctor doctor / by being / you are working. by being = "as". other examples futbolcu iyi, simpatik, yakisikli. (the footballer is good, nice and handsome) evet ama, futbolcu olarak nasil? yes but how is he as a footballer? insan olarak ....... (as a person....) çok çalışarak kazandı (by working a lot he won) this is a bad example actually but you will get the point. -ken = while Seni beklerken sıkıldım. While waiting for you I got bored. You / while waiting / i got bored in this example, and i think most often when using this suffix, you will first add the suffix for present (aorist???) tense. this suffix is -ir, -r, or -er. bekle-r-ken konuş-ur-ken (while talking) gid-er-ken (while going) Konuşacağın zamanı bekliyorum. = I'm waiting for the time when you will speak.

Buraya koş(arak) geldim. Seni bekler(ken) sıkıldım. Sürpriz yap(acağına) eminim. Konuş(acağın) zamanı bekliyorum. İşe başl(adığı) zaman henüz çocuktu.
